POPCULTURE'S DESTRUCTION OF THE CONCEPT OF "KING"
The word MELEKH unfortunately gets translated as the word KING in english
but the image of what a KING is IN ALL popculture movies, books, tv shows is not a biblical king (MELEKH) at all, but a MOSHEL- tyrant dictator. SOME PARANOID LITTLE MAN IN A ROOM
SURROUNDED BY GUARDS
KILLING PEOPLE LEFT & RIGHT
yet "king" is used to translate the word "melekh" & not "moshel".
THE "EVIL" KINGS OF TANAKH
This explains then why there were “evil kings” in TaNaKh. As a kids we ask: "if they are so evil, why doesnt everyone get together and kill them?" The answer now that we know REAL KING is only by the will of free people- if the people are corrupt they are going to elect a REAL KING (CHOICE OF FREE PEOPLE) as corrupt as them or someone who will help them continue in their ways and more.
The verses say that they did "EVIL - IN THE EYES OF GOD" -
meaning they were doing good in the eyes of the people - but evil in the eyes of God.
